Gary Wayne Deadmond 69, of Decatur entered into Heavens Gates Tuesday, November 22, 2016 in St. Mary’s
Funeral Services will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, November 29, 2016 in Life Foursquare Church, with Pastor Steve
Hohm officiating. Visitation will be 10-11 Tuesday in the Church. Burial will follow in Boiling Springs Cemetery.
Memorial contributions would be appreciated to the Deadmond Family. Tanzyus-Logan Funeral Services is in
charge of the arrangements.
Gary was born in October of 1947 in Decatur, the son of John Wesley and Shirley Louise (Groves) Deadmond. He
was an engineer for Aerochem, Inc., and later worked in maintenance at GT Church. He attended Life Foursquare
Church, Laborers local #159, and N.R.A. He was a 1965 graduate of MacArthur High School and played first chair in
the band. He enjoyed singing and playing the Trumpet. He played the trumpet with his high school band at the
White House during the Kennedy administration and met President and Jackie Kennedy. He also played at the New
York Worlds Fair. Gary loved horses, and knew Roy Rogers and Dale Evans and their families. He married Sandra
Harris-Hoots in Las Vegas Nevada in January of 1982 and she survives.
Surviving are his wife Sandra of Decatur; children Julie Wendele and husband David of South Carolina, Jennifer
Rojas and husband Manuel of Virginia, Denise Deadmond of Decatur, John Deadmond and wife Kathy of Blue
Mound, Jeff Hoots and wife Alice of Florida, and Max Hoots and wife Shannon of Decatur. Several grandchildren
and great grandchildren.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents and his horses. He was Packed up, Prayed up and Ready to go.
