A graveside service to celebrate her life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 20, 2015, at Graceland Cemetery. Pastor Randy McGeehon will officiate.
Memorials may be made in her honor to Elwin United Methodist Church, or Homeward Bound Pet Shelter. Tanzyus Logan Funeral Service and Care is in
charge of arrangements.
Kathryn was born in May of 1930, in Benton, IL, the daughter of Wayne and Edna Lamastus. She married Fred “Butch” Gibala in April of 1950 in Benton. She
worked for St. Mary’s Hospital, and retired after 25 years. She loved reading, writing poems, knitting, crocheting afghans and slippers. She also enjoyed
singing, doing crosswords, and watching the St. Louis Cardinals play baseball. Along with her husband, she loved boating at Findlay Marina and spending the
winters in Florida.
Along with her husband Fred of 65 years, Kathryn is survived by her two children: Janice Pope and Michael (Melanie) Gibala, of Decatur; grandchildren:
Deana (Eric) Whitney, Heather Pope and Mike Davis, of Decatur, Wesley (Lindsey) Gibala of Peoria; seven great grandchildren; two great-great
granddaughters; and special Aunt, Viva Hargis, of O’Fallon, MO.
Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents.
Her family would like to thank Lincolnshire staff, and Dr. Jatoi and his staff, for all their loving care.
