1929 - 2015

Donald H. Hilgendorf, “Blue Jay”, 86, of Clinton, IL, formerly of Decatur, died at 9:40 a.m., Monday, May 11, 2015, at Illini Heritage Rehabilitation and
Health Care in Champaign.

A Funeral Service celebrating Don’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 18, 2015, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 1 Bachrach Ct, Decatur, IL, with
Pastor Doug Bender, officiating. Burial will take place at 1:00 p.m. at Camp Butler National Cemetery, Riverton, IL. Military Honors will be performed by the
Macon County Honor Guard and the Illinois Army National Guard.   Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time, also in the church. Memorials may
be made to the Macon County Honor Guard, or to the family.  Tanzyus Logan Funeral Service & Care is in charge of arrangements.

Don was born in March of 1929, in Peoria, IL, the son of Harry and Bertha Hilgendorf. He graduated High School in 3 years. He proudly served his country in
the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked for Caterpillar for over 40 years, and retired at the age of 55. Don was a member of the Elks,
Masons, and Moose clubs. Don married his best friend, Ramona I. Pence, in December of 1953, and together they enjoyed traveling, dancing, and enjoying the
fruits of life.

Surviving is his wife, Ramona, daughters, Darcie (David) Leffler, Dawn (Louis) Yamine, Laura (Peter) Limón, seven  grandchildren and two great

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Wayne Richard Hilgendorf.

Don’s smiling blue eyes will be missed, but the spirit of his kindness will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. “You’re not the first, you’re not the last,
