Freda Mae Saso, 96 of Decatur passed away at 2:12 am Monday April 27, 2015 in the Eastern Star Home in Macon, IL.
Funeral service celebrating her life will be 2:00 pm Saturday May 2, 2015 at Destiny Fellowship in Moweaqua, IL, with Pastor Rod Hite officiating. A visitation
will be one hour before service time also at the church. Burial will be in North Fork Cemetery Decatur, IL. Memorials if desired may be made to the Destiny
Fellowship Church of Moweaqua. Tanzyus-Logan Funeral Service and Care is in charge of the arrangements.
Freda was born in September of 1918 in Herrick, IL, daughter of Albert and Miriam Cothern. She was a former member of Life Foursquare Church in Decatur
and attended Destiny Fellowship in Moweaqua after relocating to The Eastern Star Home in Macon. She retired from the State of Illinois after 17 years as a
mental health tech. Freda married Donald Dean Burrus in 1939 and he preceded her in death in 1946. She then married Joseph J. Saso in 1990 and he also
preceded her in 2007.
Surviving are her daughters, Nancy (Charles) Askins, of Decatur, IL, Janice (Charles) Thames, of Dayton, TX, Donna (Bobby) Smith of Pana Lake, IL, step-
daughters, Jolene Francisco and Lois Levash of California, step-son, Joseph James Saso of Chicago, IL, grandchildren, Bruce, Tim, Larry, Matthew Askins,
Cindy O’Brien, Tina Williams, Lisa Parrish, Scott Doty, nineteen great-grandchildren and twenty-seven great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 husbands, 5 brothers, 6 sisters and 2 grandsons.
