Thomas William Tanzyus
1947- 2015

Thomas William Tanzyus, 67, of Decatur, went to be with Jesus on Tuesday, February 24, 2015, at 3:40 a.m., surrounded by his family.

Tom was born in October of 1947 in Decatur, IL, the son of Edward and Margaret Tanzyus.  He graduated from Eisenhower High School in 1965 and proudly
served in the U.S. Navy from 1967 to 1972.  He married Sandra Eichel in June of 1969.  Tom worked as a supervisor for the ADM Bioproducts division,
retiring in 2012.  He was a patient, faithful, and light-hearted man who loved spending time with his kids and grandkids.  Tom was loved for his persistence and
self-motivation, perseverance in the face of adversity, and appreciation of life’s simple pleasures.  He was always eager to apply his handiwork skills to help
others with home improvement projects.  He also enjoyed fishing, exercising at the ADM Wellness Center, working on his suntan, Frisbee golf, metal-
detecting, Smarties candies, and cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals.  He touched the lives of many and will be missed dearly.

Survivors include his wife Sandy; children: Stacy (Dave) Blake of Orlando, FL, Lesley (Jason) Winkler of Orland Park, IL, Natalie (Christopher) Baeten of
Orlando, FL, and Keith Tanzyus of Denver, CO; grandchildren: Emily, Ethan, and Jacob Winkler, Noah and Ella Blake, Brady Shae and Brooks Baeten;  brother
Larry (Cheryl) Tanzyus of Cedarcreek, MO and sister Diane (Larry) Hudson of Mt. Zion, IL; and many other cherished family members and friends.

He was reunited in death with his parents.

A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, March 2, 2015 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church (#1 Bachrach Ct) in Decatur, IL, with Wray
Offermann, officiating.   Visitation will precede the service at 10 a.m.  His final resting place will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield, IL.  The
family requests that memorials be made to the American Heart Association in lieu of flowers. Tanzyus Logan Funeral Service and Care is in charge of
