Jacqueline Jane Heffington

Jacqueline Jane Heffington, age 94 of Decatur died Monday May 28, 2018 in Decatur
Memorial Hospital.

A funeral service to celebrate Jackie’s life will be 11:00 am Monday June 4, 2018 at
Antioch Christian Church (5409 East US Route 36 Decatur, Illinois) Visitation will be
one hour before the service, at the church. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery Decatur,
Illinois.   Tanzyus-Logan Funeral Service and Care is in charge of the arrangements.

Jackie was born in December of 1923 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Frank and
Grace  Chappell.  She worked in retail sales for General Electric and at Houdille Hershey
War Plant during WW II. She was a member of Antioch Christian Church and the Loyal
Order of Moose. Jackie married the love of her life,  Harold O. Stults  in August of 1940.  
He died at the Battle of the Bulge during World War II. She later married Kenneth
Heffington  in March of 1970. Kenneth also preceded her in death.

As a child she worked as a Carney. Later in life,  she owned a pet shop taking care of
exotic birds. Jackie also ran a jewelry store.  Jackie enjoyed her later years living with
her granddaughter Michelle. She loved to play Wii Bowling and darts and won many
trophies for her participation. She delighted in working puzzles, enjoyed quilting many
types of items, created cross-stitched keepsake crosses for Cancer Care patients and
crocheted beautiful Afghans, as just some of her favorite things to do.  Spending time
with family and telling stories of her life’s memories were the best.  Kenneth and Jackie
ran the Ballpark at Staleys back in the 70’s.

She is survived by her granddaughter, Michelle (Cecil) Hardwick of Decatur, grandsons,
Robert (Becky) O’laughlin of Peoria, Donnie Gaultney of Decatur, Richard (Veronica) O’
Laughlin of South Carolina, Michael Gaultney of Texas, ten great and sixteen great-great

She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, grandson, Terry Gaultney,  
daughter, Carolyn Gaultney and granddaughter, Debra Brozio.

Special thanks to Dr. Khan and his staff, Marcia Sullivan with DMH Home Health Care
and other caregivers Trina Horn, three special helpers Blayk, Terry and Myla. Thanks
also to Cecil Hardwick for his patience and love as well as Josh and Anne O’Laughlin.
