KLASKA

Helen Klaska, 64, of Decatur, Illinois passed away Friday April 8, 2016

Helen was born in July of 1951, the daughter of Donald and Lorraine Hendrian. She Married Roger E. Klaska in
December of 1969 and they shared 46 years together.  They have six wonderful children and seven precious
grandchildren.

Helen spent 40 years as a Registered Respiratory Therapist.  She worked in several area hospitals always
learning, training, and being compassionate to others.  During that time, she spent several years as the co-
manager of the Respiratory Department of St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.  She had a BS degree in psychology
from Ashford University and was just finishing up her masters at Capella University.

She was a published researcher, and was always involved with her children and grandchildren.  

She was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. She was a Stephens Ministry graduate and active in the
church choir.

She created a life full of happy memories for her family and tried to always be involved in their life.  

Helen leaves behind her husband, Roger, her son Douglas Klaska and wife Shannon of Decatur, Illinois; son
Christopher Klaska of Minneapolis, Minnesota; daughter Katrina Klaska of Madison, Wisconsin; daughter
Michelle Klaska of Decatur, Illinois; Son Mathew Klaska and wife Amanda of Lewiston, Illinois; and daughter
Heather and husband Nicholas Shores of Janesville Wisconsin. Helen also leaves behind seven grandchildren
Madison Ann, Hailee, Madison Nicole, Hollie, Aaron, Isabella, and Derrick.

She had three sisters; Barbara, Vickie, and Karen; and one brother, Don.

She is preceded in death by her sister Barbara, and her parents.

The family will be hosting a Celebration of her life and a visitation at St. John’s Lutheran Church Wednesday
evening, April 13th from 5 to 7 PM.  Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM on Thursday morning, April 14th with
Reverend Russell Weise officiating. Burial will follow at Macon County Memorial Park.
