William Lawrence “Bill” Smith, 84 of Dalton City, Illinois, died at 3:09 pm. Friday, March 25, 2016 in Decatur
Funeral service to celebrate Bill’s life will be 10:00 am. Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at First Christian Church Decatur.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 pm. Monday March 28, 2016 also at the church. Burial with Military Rites by the Macon
County Honor Guard will be at 1:00 pm. Tuesday at Mt. Zion Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to S.T.

Bill was born in September of 1931 in Dalton City, Illinois, the son of William R. and Goldie Smith. He graduated
from Mt. Zion High School. He retired from Caterpillar Tractor Company after thirty-two years service as an
Inspector. Bill served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Shriner’s Ansar
Temple. Bill enjoyed the game of golf. He married Donna L. West in July of 1960.
Surviving are his wife, Donna L. Smith, son, William Todd (Lisa) Smith of Terre Haute, Indiana, granddaughter,
Hayley Christine (Dave) Jordan, grandson, Holden Robert William Smith and his fiancée Courtney all of Terre
Haute, brother, Francis D. (Cheryl) Smith of Long Creek, Illinois, and looking forward to first great grandson in
July, Lincoln William Jordan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, A. Eugene Smith.
Bill was a great husband, father and grandfather and brother, who will be deeply missed.
