Mary Charlene Buoy, 76,of Atwood, Illinois died Thursday, March 24th.
Charlene was born in November of 1939 in Wayne County, Illinois to Robert Faye and Evelyn Victoria Wilson. She
lived mainly in the Fairfield, Illinois area until her early teenage years when her family settled in Atwood, Illinois.
There she met the love of her life Charles Arnold Buoy, whom she married in June of 1956. Together they had four
children: Gail, Phil, Jan and Rebecca.
Following in her father's footsteps, Charlene was a Sign Painter by trade. After traveling the country with her husband
working for Freeman Decorators, Inc. for many years, they came home to Atwood and started their own Sign Shop, Bee
Charlene was an amazing artist. She loved all mediums of Art and mastered them all. She had an eye for detail which was
evident in the dolls that she would create using various techniques. By the time they were finished, she felt like she had
a new friend. Many of her dolls were made for local fundraisers and sought after by many. Charlene had an eye for
beauty and love of nature. She was very quick witted. But most of all, Charlene was a Mom. She loved her children
more than anything. She raised them all with the 'bloom where you are planted" attitude. There were always projects
and activities. Boredom was not a possibility. She will be missed so much.
Surviving are her children: Gail (Mitchell) Gaddis and Phil Buoy of Atwood, Illinois, Jan (Berry) Foster of Festus,
Missouri and Rebecca (Kevin) Bishop of Arcola, Illinois. Grandchildren: Benjamin (Mandy) Gaddis, Taylorville,
Illinois, Joe Gaddis, Colorado Springs, Colorado, Melinda Dunlap, (Crystal McColgan) Newman, Illinois, Dennis
(Rachel) Foster, Festus, Missouri, Fran Foster (Jon Bonham) St. Louis, Missouri. Cassandra (Drew) Kenton,
Champaign, Illinois, Claire Foster, Festus, Missouri. Great Grands: Isaac, Oliver, Amelia, Sophia and Grace Gaddis,
Taylorville, Illinois, Caleb and Caden Gaddis, Colorado Springs, Colorado, Lucas Foster, Festus, M. Arlo Bonham, St.
Louis, Missouri, and Evelyn Kenton, Champaign, Illinois. Brother; Scott (Renee) Ellis, Sisters; JoEllen (Denny)
Williams, Atwood, Illinois, Donna (Tim) Gillespie, Atwood, Illinois and Rena (Bill) Suding, Atwood, Illinois.
She was preceded by: Her husband, Arnie Buoy, who passed just 16 days prior. Her Father, Robert Wilson, Mother,
There will be a casual Celebration of Charlene and Arnie Buoy's Life on Sunday, April 17, 2016 from 1-4 pm,
Kaskaskia Country Club, 450 E County Road 300 North, Arcola, Illinois. We would love to hear your stories, laugh
and honor the amazing people that they were.
Memorials can be made to the Atwood "Everyday Needy" fund or to the donor's choice.
