Dorothy Hoffmann, 90, of Springfield, Illinois and formerly Decatur, Illinois went home to be with Jesus
Monday, February 29, 2016 surrounded by her loving family.

A memorial service celebrating Dorothy’s life will be held on Friday March 4, 2016 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of
Concordia Village Care Center 4101 W. Iles Avenue, Springfield, Illinois 62711. Chaplain Chris Nilges will
officiate. Burial will be 11:00 am Saturday March 5, 2016 in Holy Cross Lutheran Cemetery Collinsville,
Illinois. Memorials may be made to The Northeast Community Fund in Decatur, Illinois or to the Lincoln Land
Community College Foundation for Nursing Students in Springfield, Illinois. Tanzyus-Logan Funeral Service

Dorothy was born and raised on a farm in Granite City, Illinois, the daughter of August and Clara Bruns. She was
a telephone operator, a beautician, and a volunteer at Decatur Memorial Hospital and St. John’s Lutheran
Church in Decatur. Dorothy enjoyed reading, fishing, gardening and growing beautiful flowers. She loved to
cook and bake for her family and friends. She was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Springfield,
Illinois. Dorothy married Richard Hoffmann in September of 1953 in Collinsville, Illinois.

Surviving are her husband, Richard of Springfield, Illinois, daughter, Mary Frost (Frank Herout) of Naperville,
Illinois, son, Rich Hoffmann (Mary) of Springfield, Illinois, daughter, Beth Hoffmann (Mark Kother) of
Springfield, Illinois, grandchildren, Jessica Verkruyse (Mike), Scott Hoffmann, Miranda Hoffmann, Andrew
Kother, great granddaughter, Lily Kother and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, August Bruns Jr. and Vernon Bruns, and sister, Ruth
Bohnenstiehl.

Dorothy was a devoted wife, loving mom, and caring grandma who will be truly missed.
