Earl William White, 86, passed away at 1:35 a.m., Sunday, August 23, 2015, at McKinley Court Care Center in Decatur.
A memorial service to celebrate Earl’s life will be 1:00 p.m., Thursday, August 27, 2015, First Christian Church, 3350 N. MacArthur, Decatur. Pastor Wayne
Kent will officiate. Visitation will take place 2 hours prior, also in the church. Burial will take place at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the
Special Olympics. Tanzyus Logan Funeral Service & Care is in charge of arrangements.
Earl was born In July of 1929, one of twin sons born to Ernest & Rachel White. He married Greta R. Throgmartin in March of 1951, at First Christian Church,
Hillsboro, IL. They were happily married for 64 years. Earl went to school in Benld, IL, and also attended A & M College in Stillwater, OK, while he served his
country in the U.S. Air Force. He proudly served his country for 4 years. Earl also took classes at Millikin, earned his Barbers License, and Barbers Teaching
License. He was a football, basketball, and softball coach referee, and a coach for his daughter’s softball teams while she was in high school. He worked for
Caterpillar as a scheduler for 35 years. Earl loved the Cubs & the Bears. He enjoyed going on vacation with friends Kathy & Don, Ernie & Janet. He was a
member of First Christian Church, Caterpillar Retirement Club, and a Mason for over 50 years with Stephen Decatur Lodge 979.
Along with his loving wife, Earl is survived by their daughters: Rebecca (Kendall) Brooks, Lisa White, Betsy (Nate Campbell) Gray, all of Decatur;
grandchildren: Matthew Whitney, Megan (Bobby) Thomas, Josh Gray; seven great-grandchildren; and 10 great nieces and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law, 2 sisters, his twin brother, three sisters-in-law, and two great-grand babies.
He was the best husband, daddy, grandpa, and great grandpa, and uncle. His family was his life, and he will be greatly missed.
