Steven was born in February of 1952, in Decatur, the son of Curtis L. and Betty Gentry. He was a hot rodder at heart, he loved cars and racing, and he was a
proud member of the NHRA. He was also a great mechanic, and he would’ve done anything for anybody. Steven had an incredible sense of humor, and every
day was a new opportunity for him to make someone’s day, and to joke around and have fun. He happily married his best friend, Kathy Johnson, in March of
1973, in Decatur, and they enjoyed 42 years together.
In addition to his loving wife, Kathy, Steven is survived by his daughter, Tammie; mother, Betty Gentry; brothers: Mike Gentry and his wife Judy, and Bruce
Gentry and his wife Cathy; sister, Kathy Closen and her husband Fred; two grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; two great nieces and one great nephew;
and countless friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lyle.
Steven was wise beyond his years, and we will miss his wealth of knowledge. His smile and his ability to have fun and enjoy life every day will be the legacy we
