Margaret M. Ritchhart, 84 of Decatur passed away at 10:15 pm. Saturday,                 
April 15, 2017 at McKinley Court Care Center, Decatur, Illinois.  

Funeral service to celebrate Margaret’s life will be 10:30 Thursday April 20, 2017 at
First Christian Church (3350 N. MacArthur Road, Decatur, Illinois 62526) with  
Pastor Wayne Kent officiating. Visitation will be 9:00 am to 10:30 am Thursday also
at the church. Following Margaret’s wishes her body will be cremated following her
services. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the charity of the
donor’s choice. Tanzyus-Logan Funeral Service and Care is in charge of the

Margaret was born in October of 1932 in Bloomington, Illinois, the daughter of  
Delmar and Vonnie Wheeler. She married John M. Ritchhart in May of 1955, and they
shared almost sixty-two years together.  Margaret graduated from Bloomington High
School in 1951. She was a homemaker and raised a great family. She was a past
member of Central Christian Church and an avid bowler on the Coffee Breakers
League of Decatur. She loved to camp, travel and dearly loved to be with her
grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as spending time with her family and
friends. Margaret was a wonderful loving wife, mother, grandmother and great
grandmother and always had a great smile for everyone.

Margaret leaves behind her husband and faithful caregiver John, son, Dennis
Ritchhart of Monticello, Illinois, two daughters, Denise Benton of Ocala, Florida, and
Diane (Denny) Wheeler of Decatur, grandchildren, Eric Benton (friend Ashley), Brian
(Danielle) Benton, Ashley Wheeler (friend Rodolfo), Kelly (Matt) Carlson, two step-
grandchildren, Melinda and Rebecca Tullis, great grandchildren, Mia Benton, Ava
Wheeler and Felix Cruz, ten nieces, six nephews and a dear friend who was like another
son to her, Bob Squires.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Delmar Jr. and Fredrick;  
bson-in-law Don Benton, and her in-laws, Belva and Paul Ritchhart.

The family would like to thank the management and staff at the McKinley and
Symphony Care Centers for the wonderful care and kindness the past two years as she
fought Alzheimer’s disease as well as Dr. D. Patel and Dr. Phil Shils.
